Treat the result as unknown until the endpoint’s status or idempotency behavior resolves it. A timeout is not proof that nothing happened. Blind retries of a paid or publishing operation can duplicate work.

Preserve the request identity and last confirmed state. Check the exact endpoint documentation before deciding how to retry; not every operation offers the same guarantees. Route unresolved outcomes into a review path that can inspect the target state instead of guessing from the model’s explanation.
